Wabun First Nations Sign Agreements With Lake Shore Gold

– September 2006, Wabun Tribal Council and Mattagami First Nation begin talking with Lake Shore Gold, as part of an overall strategy dedicated to consultation with resource development companies operating on Wabun traditional lands.
– July 18, 2008 Exploration Agreement (EA) signed by Mattagami First Nation and Flying Post First Nation with Lake Shore Gold Corporation.
– This agreement will promote a cooperative and mutually respectful relationship for Flying Post First Nation and Mattagami First Nation as the company moves forward with exploration and advanced exploration work on the Timmins West property.
– This agreement establishes a framework for ongoing dialogue and consultation between the parties, including providing business, employment and training opportunities for members of the two First Nations.
– The Timmins West Gold Property is situated 18 kilometres west of Timmins.


– March 10 2009, the First Nations of Flying Post, Mattagami, Matachewan and Wahgoshig sign an Exploration Agreement with Lake Shore Gold Corp. concerning the development of the company’s Bell Creek Project.
– The Bell Creek Project is situated eight kilometers north of South Porcupine in Timmins.
– Brian Hagan, Executive Vice President, Lake Shore Gold Corp. commented, “This new Exploration Agreement will continue with the company’s philosophy of working with First Nations in regards to resource development.”
